FUNKE AKINDELE #WCW: WOMAN CRUSH WEDNESDAY!






Akindele Olufunke Ayotunde (popularly known as Funke Akindele, born August 24, 1977 in Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria) is a Nigerian actress. In 2009 she won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.


Akindele worked in television before switching to cinema, becoming known for her starring role in the family-oriented Nigerian television show I Need to Know. Akindele's qualifications include an OND in Mass Communication from the Ogun State Polytechnic and a law degree from the Lagos State University.To her credit she has written and produced over a 100 movies.

Funke Akindele's big break came in 2009 from the movie titled JENIFA which is making waves all over Nigeria. In addition came the THE RETURN OF JENIFA and in 2015 came the hilarious Television series JENIFA'S DIARY, hilarious and educative showing on terrestrial Television stations in Nigeria (Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Silverbird Television (STV), African Independent Television (AIT)).

 Funke Akindele also runs a non-governmental Organisation known as THE JENIFA FOUNDATION, this involves nuturing talent and acquiring vocational skills. Other movies to her credit includes MAAMI, MARRIED BUT LIVING SINGLE, Compound Fool.

The movie also stars other A-list Nollywood actors and actresses like Yul Edochie, Kenneth Okonkwo, Queen Nwokoye, Moyo Lawal, Zubby Michaels and a host of others.
