He Slapped My Mother Three Days To Our Wedding!!
Sometimes you find yourself in a
dire situation and you are caught in the middle, and nothing seems to make
sense. Some challenges just comes and knock you off balance without giving a
warning sign.
This is the
dilemma of Ibironke Ayeni, who
found out that her fiancé slapped her mother three days to her wedding. This
information shook her to her bones. Her mother is her Jewel, her pillar who has
seen her through her worst days, who stood solidly by her throughout her entire
life. Her mother is her Rock, her backbone and her strength. She thought to
herself' Iya ni wura (Mother
is Gold). No way am i allowing Afolabi get away with this. She cried ''How could he do this, how could
he even think of it'' She slumped on the couch and remembered his words to her
the day he proposed:
‘’Honey
please will you make my dreams come true and marry me? Please be the mother of
my children. I promise to never bring tears to your eyes, your family will be
my family and your enemies will be mine also. Together we will overcome all
obstacles''. With tears in her eyes she remembered how excited she was, her
heart was filled with Joy, she jumped screaming yes! Yes! i will marry you.
Folabi you are the man of my dreams nothing will make me happier than being
your wife. She embraced him and planted a kiss on his lips, he raised her up
and swirled her round and round. She felt like the only woman in the world.''
It was all a lie,
she said to herself, wiped her teary eyes and got up, picked her phone and
dialled his number. Afolabi picked up almost immediately the phone rang and
began to stammer, Ba-by Baby- My- my -love please i can explain. It’s the
work of the devil! She interrupted him immediately, where did you meet the
devil, she asked? What does he look like and where is he from?
If anyone ask me
if i have seen the devil, i will say yes
i have seen one and that is you Afolabi. How dare you raise your hand on my mother,
which means you will turn me to a punching bag as soon as i become your wife, no
matter what she must have done or what she did or did not do, you have no right
to do that. Even if you were drunk, you should know that my Mother is my Joy
and i can’t have peace knowing that i will be married to a man who shamefully
assaulted my mum. You don't have regards for me and my family. I don't
see any point in going ahead with this charade of a wedding. It’s Over she said
and ended the call.
Tears rolled
down her eyes, she thought of her age, she will be 29 this year, all the preparations
that has been made; her dream wedding gown, that was shipped all the way from
the States, was it the hall that has been paid for? Or the catering service,
and most especially her honeymoon bookings at Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubia Deira
Creek. All her friends that have been looking forward to showcase their Aso Ebi on Bella naija, the
disappointment on their faces and all the pity comments and greetings she will
get will ultimately be her biggest battle to overcome.
As she pondered on how to break
the news to the world, she wondered if she overreacted, what if there was a way
all these could be averted, she thought, then she heard that calm voice saying ''you
have made the right choice, all will be well. You will stand tall at the end of
this Crisis''. And with that she
went to sleep.
What will you do if your Fiancé or Fiancée
slaps either of your parents three days to your wedding?
Ehn, this better be fiction oo
ReplyDeleteShe did the right thing. She's 29, she'll be dead before her 31st birthday if she had gone ahead with the wedding.
